A Garden by the Church

We hope this green space will serve many.

The parish, as a place of quiet prayer and reflection (and coffee!).

The neighbors, as a gift of hospitality and beauty.

The children, as a place to learn and play in wonder.

And, if we are blessed by God, the poor, sick and grieving, who we may ask to pray for us.

A threshold between the world and the Church.

And a gentle invitation.

The Way of Beauty

The dance of revelation.

Modern culture trains us to think in one direction: forward.

But the Scriptures certainly do not.

Indeed, Adam goes out from Eden; and Israel goes out from Egypt.

God comes to Abraham, just as He comes to Moses, and to the Prophets.

The Word comes in the flesh. And then ascends. The Spirit descends!

Indeed salvation is not single step forward, but movement - into, through, and with God.

Mutual. Relational. Rhythmic.

Liturgical Echoes

Liturgical landscape!

We know that the Orthodox Divine Liturgy is full of movement: entering, exiting, bowing, kneeling, and more!

The deacon, the priest, and the people; they all participate in this motion.

And so we asked, what if our new garden did the same?

Paths that wind. Benches that invite both solitude and conversation.

Greenery and seasonal plantings that echo the peace of paradise.

This is more than landscaping.

It is living liturgy.

A Living Parable

Come and see.

Our prayer is that this space become a sanctuary where many may come to be renewed.

Indeed, a church that plants gardens, and that makes spaces of rest and reflection, is a church that says,

We believe in resurrection.

We believe in hospitality.

We believe in transformation.

And I will come again and take you to myself, that where I am you may be also
